Well, now that I am a few posts in, I thought I would take a few minutes to introduce myself. Who AM I??
I’m Kelly and I just created the blog slightlynorthofsouthern.com. I’m not new to blogging or social media, but this is my first experience blogging on my own site.
I live with my husband, Chris, and daughter, AJ, in wild & wonderful West Virginia. Chris and I are both from WV and both lived in South Carolina for a short while (at different times, ha!). We were married in 2012 and had AJ in 2014. I’ll save the ‘how we met’ and birth novels for another day 😉
Becoming a mom opened my eyes to the world of blogging. Before, I read blog posts every now and then, but as a new mom I started following blogs. When I was awake at 3 a.m., nursing or simply soothing AJ, posts from other moms going through the same things as me were my lifeline.
I’ve always loved to write (my goal: write a book; hold me to it!), and it’s half of what I do in my day job in corporate communications. I used to write for a mommy blog for our local paper. Just like how it is hard to describe how wonderful being a parent really is, it’s also hard to describe the day-to-day challenges faced. That’s one of the reasons why I started my blog. I want to share my stories as they happen in the hope that there is some other mom, future mom, dad, or anyone interested that can relate. I’m not saying every post will be about parenting, but the perspective of my posts are that of a parent.
I didn’t start a blog to share perfect parenting or life stories, I started a blog to share the imperfect ones, the real ones. You won’t see me posting about crafting or the perfect table setting (I love reading those posts, but you definitely don’t want me giving advice on that front). I’m just here navigating through the waters of being a mom, wife, employee, daughter, friend and whatever other hat I wear that day.
There are so many blogs out there that inspire me – ones on motherhood, faith, fashion, you name it. I’ll pick my favorites to share with you soon!
So, with all that said, I’d love to hear from you either through the comments or through email. Let’s get to know each other!
